The scholarship is valued up to $1,000 and is intended to cover the cost of one year of NAME Membership ($50), Event Registration fee of $325 with the remainder ($625) available to help with Workshop, and Hotel reimbursement, costs. At least one workshop seat of their choice is guaranteed. Cash will not be handed out and the recipient will be responsible for all other payments. If the recipient cancels for any reason they will forfeit the scholarship. However, they will continue to receive their one-year membership. The committee will attempt to find a replacement from that year’s candidates.
The scholarship recipient is encouraged to participate as an exhibitor. Applying to be instructor in the Roundtable and Mega Roundtable Events is also possible and may further assist with funding the costs not covered by the scholarship.
The initial source of funding for the Scholarship Program comes from a pledge from Jean and Fred Scribner to be supplemented with annual fundraising event which may include a special auction and callout to the Membership.
The initial scholarship was awarded in 2023 for the National Convention in Cape Cod, Ma. to one individual and may be expanded in future years to more individuals at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. The scholarship provides an opportunity for individuals who are involved in the world of miniatures to improve, broaden and share their skills and areas of interest in the intense environment of the National Convention or Houseparty among like-minded individuals.
Through the program, a new member of the miniature community who has not had the opportunity to participate in person at workshops will have an unforgettable experience.
