General
So what's NAME? NAME is the National Association of Miniature Enthusiast. We're a group that love and promote dollhouse miniatures. See the MAIN NAME page for further details and for an application to join.

So what's this Online Region? NAME is normally divided into regions based on geography. This region's boundary is cyberspace. Check out the Regional Coordinator's message and see the listing at the left for various things that we offer. You have to be a member to get into those areas marked member only.

Application Process & Log-on
How can I join?
You need to be a current member of NAME and then fill out our sign-up form.

So why do you ask for my city and state on the application form? We need to verify your name on our master membership list. This helps us to do that process. This information is not shared.

Why don't I get on instantly? The application process is not done by a computer. We physically check your name against our master list and then place you on the password list. This takes time.

I've forgotten my username, what do I do? Your username is your e-mail address that you used when you signed up IN LOWER CASE.

I've forgotten my password, what do I do? Send an e-mail to Shannon and she will send you password.

I never received an e-mail with my username and password, what do I do? E-mail Shannon and explain your problem. There are several things that could have happened. You may not have filled out the form properly or you may not have set your e-mail to receive e-mail from us. We need that to send you your password.

So how do I log-on? Click on any of the areas in the left hand column marked members only. A log-on box marked NAME Online Region will appear. Type in your username and password in the appropriate lines.

I don't find a log-on box. I'm sorry but we don't know how to solve that one. There is something on your machine that is hampering the log-on process. You will have to try from a friend's machine or get a helper.

If I forget my log-in information, can't I just rejoin? Sure you can but it means more work for us and duplication on the membership list. It's best to just send an e-mail to Pat or Shannon and they will send you the information.

Privacy
Will you publish my name and address on the site?
No, we value your privacy. We ask if you post to the forum that you give your name. If you don't want to do that, you can use a pseudonym. If you choose to join the mailing list, your e-mail address shows only if you post. Also the mailing list is only accessible to other Online Members.

Chat
I can't get the chat to work, what's wrong?
The chat program uses java. If you don't have java installed or you are having problems on other sites with java applications, you will need to first enable java on your browser. If that doesn't work, you will need to update your browser (such as IE, Netscape, etc)

The chat directions say chose a nickname. What's that? A nickname is just that, what you will be known as during that chat session. You can just use your first name or you can chose something inventive. It should be one word.

I go to chat and there's no one there. What's wrong? You are welcome to come at any time but you really need at least two people to chat. E-mail a buddy if there isn't a time set aside. Also be patient when you are there. If the other person has been waiting, sometimes they step away or are doing other things and don't realize someone is there.

Classes
Are there going to be more classes?
Yes, but we need volunteers who are willing to teach. Talk to one of our cyberreps if you can or know of a good project that others would enjoy.

Are the classes going to be there all the time? As we get more classes, the classes will be rotated. So if you see a class that you like, do it now as it might not be around forever. Some classes also have a limited registration.

Can I share the classes with others? We prefer that the classes are for our Online Members. If you have a question about sharing them, PLEASE contact the instructor and get permission.

What's wrong, I can't get to the class page? The main Class page can only be viewed by Online Region members. Furthermore, there are certain classes that are for pay that only those Online Members who registered for THAT class can see. It will be noted by the link that these are for Registered Class members only.

Clubs
What about clubs?
If you would like to start your own cyberclub, that's great! We encourage it. Presently we consider this to be one big club and as such we have things for all our members.

Forum
What's a forum?
To some people they may know this as a message board. Questions are posted and others reply to those questions.

Why have a forum and a mailing list? We've provided both so that you may choose. Some people don't want to be contacted by others, they just want to seek out information on their terms. Others want to be kept up-to-date without having to check in to this site on a regular basis so they choose to be contacted by the mailing list.

Mailing List
Why don't you allow advertising on the mailing list?
We wanted to keep the mailing list focused on miniatures. We felt that advertisements and ebay announcements detracted from this focus.

Why is the mailing list at yahoo.com? We just didn't have the expertise or manpower to take care of all the problems associated with bouncing messages etc. and we also needed a place that didn't charge so we chose yahoo.

Why do I have to sign-up for a mailing list too? We didn't want to automatically subscribe you as some people don't want to be bothered with e-mail. Again it is that choice issue.

What's this yahoo groups thing anyway? It's confusing. Yahoo has in addition to the mailing list set aside an area for each of its mailing lists. They let you have the ability to share files, pictures, a calendar, and other things. Additionally if you join the "group" part you can manage your own subscription (change your address where you receive the mailing list, get it in digest or individual or just read it through the page for that group). If you join a group, you sign-up through yahoo and have a yahoo-id / password with them. We don't have access to your yahoo password.

Can I get just the mailing list without going through all that yahoo groups stuff? Yes, there is a link on the mailing list page for you to do that. The mailing list will come in individual messages. You can have the messages sent in digest but we have to change it for you manually. (The mailing list, at the moment, does not generate a lot of e-mail.)

Pictures
Will the picture shows always be on the site?
These will be rotated out as time goes by. We will need to delete some of the older ones, to make room for the newer slide shows.

Why only certain times to submit pictures? If we have a certain time, we can be on the lookout for attachments with pictures. The webmaster can also make sure that her mailbox is checked frequently. This is a time consuming process so we can only post pictures on special occasions.

Roommate Finder
What's the Roommate finder anyway?
This is a simple matching service for those interested in sharing a room at NAME regionals and nationals. You post your name and a simple comment and then as others look at the list they can e-mail you. Once a match has been found, you need to e-mail the webmaster so your name can be removed from the list.
